Beyond the blue sky

In 2009, Mongolia’s LGBTQI community remained largely invisible. Faced with discrimination and hate crimes, community events took place away from the mainstream, hidden from public view.

This series portrays some of its members, their faces covered by a blue khadag—a traditional ceremonial scarf—out of concern for their safety.
